What's Involved?

At Connect Scotland we believe that an effective management team is the driving force behind the success of new start technology businesses. Connect Scotland is giving these new start businesses the unique opportunity to take part in the Springboard Programme and pitch their business and the role they are currently looking to fill to skilled senior managers, entrepreneurs and business angles to take up an essential role as part of their team.

Participating business will take part in an intensive selection and preparation programme which will combine mentoring and panel sessions to enable each business to prepare their proposition and help make your plans more attractive to senior managers and potential investors. In mid November 2010 Connect Scotland will hold their first Springboard event where up to 8 selected new start technology business to pitch for essential management positions within their organisations.

Connect Scotland is now seeking applicant companies looking to attract crucial management talent to their business.

Applicant businesses will be from all technology sectors and will have the chance to pitch for any types of skills including technical, financial and non-executive positions.

To be part of the Springboard Programme applicants must be willing to complete the application process and pay the required fee.

The Process

The Springboard programme is intensive but if the time is used effectively this could make the difference to the future prospects of the business. The programme is also scheduled to take place over the summer months when traditionally most businesses are slightly quieter and may be able to spend more time working on their proposition.

For most start-up businesses the learning curve is a steep one, in particular technology businesses who are often looking for investment from a very early stage. Whether or not a business is selected to take part in the pitching event in November, the Springboard preparation programme will give them valuable insight and support in the investor readiness development of their business and fast track them in achieving their required results.

Workshops & Mentoring

Each applicant will attend a panel session where they will present their business opportunity.
Following the panel presentation applicants will be assigned a mentor and may be asked to work on a number of aspects with their mentor to refine their pitch in time for the subsequent selection panel. Each applicant will be expected to participate in a series of meetings to work with the mentor to make the required improvements. At each stage of the process, new business issues will be uncovered, and applicants should be prepared to undertake several redrafts of their plan.

Each business will also be offered the opportunity to attend a workshop programme to improve some of the basic areas of their business plan and become investment ready. This workshop will cover the basic requirements sought by potential investors to enable each business to make improvements that make them more attractive to investors.
